I am a nurse at a children’s healthcare organization. After going through the one to one lesson I approached my manager about our usual folder (one on one) meetings. Typically there has been a very one way communication from my manager with direction on where goals are, what we need to do, I didn’t have much of a voice.
After the one to one lesson I gained confidence and used my new knowledge to approach my manager about having a different type of folder meeting to bring one, two, or three things on my agenda.
My manager was extremely open minded and appreciated my initiative. I walked away from these meetings having a voice, and it has changed the whole dynamic of our meetings which has really strengthened my relationship with her significantly.
